Artist's statement
I consider myself as a pastelist. Over the years I have used all mediums, but my love for pastel has always remained. I think it is the most beautiful medium and nowadays I mainly work with pastel.
I first came into contact with pastel in 1988 in Paris as I walked past the artists taking portraits of tourists near the Sacre Coeur. I was overwhelmed by the beautiful bright colors and the amazing authenticity of their results.
As I delve into creating with pastels, I find myself captured by the ability of this medium to bring out the vibrancy and depth of color. Each stroke of the pastel stick feels like a small, delicate touch of life on the canvas. It allows me to capture the essence of a scene or subject with a unique richness and expressiveness.
With every stroke of pastel, I strive to capture not only the physical beauty but also the emotions and stories hidden beneath the surface. Through layering and blending, I create depth and texture, inviting the viewer to explore and discover the narratives within my artwork.
The process of creating a pastel artwork is a dance between control and spontaneity. It requires careful observation and technique, yet there is also a joyous freedom in embracing the unpredictability and uniqueness of the medium.
Through my art, I hope to remind people of the beauty that surrounds us, even in the midst of chaos and uncertainty. I want to inspire others to pause and appreciate the intricate details of life that often go unnoticed. By capturing and sharing these moments, I aim to bring joy, hope, and a renewed sense of wonder to those who engage with my work.
My journey as a pastelist continues to evolve, as I seek to push boundaries, experiment with new techniques, and explore different subject matters. With each stroke, I am reminded of the wonder and beauty that exists all around us, waiting to be discovered and celebrated.
Many thanks for visiting my website and please share when you love it?
And so, I pick up my pastels once again, ready to embark on another artistic adventure, and honor the beauty that is forever present in our world.
